WE'LL BE TOGETHER WHEN THE PLANET DIES
Ink on paper. 61 x 42 cm. 2019
The process to create this painting involves shifting the ink back and forth across the page, adding bleach at various points. The bleach forces the ink in all directions away from itself, unless gravity is employed. Used early on in the process it will also encourage the ink to form a film on top of the paper, which can then be ‘shattered’ with a further drop of ink later on in the process.
Much like Black Rain where ink rushes down the paper into a valley, We’ll Be Together When the Planet Dies is a dystopian scene full of vertical movement, as if the walls are disintegrating, with piles of dark rubble at the bottom edge.
